I have been in Peru for a week, today. I am finally starting the blog I said I would be doing the entire trip. Not bad for a Preciado, honestly. So this is just somewhat of a test and kick off page. I arrived last Saturday at 1:30 am to the international airport of Lima, Peru. Zara, my Chica Peruana and my personal guide to Peru and my main partner in crime was at my side as we went through customs and immigration. Wow, what a piece of cake then coming into the USA! Even as a US citizen it's harder for me to get into the USA then it was for me to get into Peru as a foreigner! Go figure. Partly, we just got lucky because you have to push a button, just like in Mexico, and if you get a green light, you get to go through without inspection. If you get a red light, you have to go to the side and get all your bags inspected. Although, if Peru is anything like Mexico, even when you get the unlucky red light, the customs people are so cautious and so polite that is easy shmeezy. Once again, very unlike my one bad experience coming back into the US, from Mexico, and this is way before all the craziness started, I got picked out of the crowd by a Customs Agent who apparently just didn't like the way I looked. He tore apart my bags, completely messing up everything and then told me put your stuff away and go, then walked away. WTF???
Bueno, the point is, everything went smoothly in Lima and Zara's family was there waiting for us outside and all these old ladies (her mom and aunts) were out in the middle of the night, when they usually go to bed by 9pm.
Ok, well, I will fill in the cracks and the holes later on, right now I have to run to the cheap liquor store, called MiMar to get a birthday present bottle of licka for a party we have been invited to tonight!! whoot whooot!!!
Ciao Ciao for now...
If you are in Lima, or planning to travel to Lima and have any questions, shoot me a comment and I will do my best to answer it or find out the answer, since I have connections and family here and I am learning more by the day!! Ciao and Best Wishes!!
